Alex Charitou is a senior MedTech advisor and former partner at a multi-national professional services network with nearly 30 years of experience in the healthcare and life sciences sector. He has worked extensively with global MedTech manufacturers to bring innovative technologies to patients and healthcare professionals—quickly, safely, and effectively.
He has a special interest in Software as a Medical Device, wearables, device drug-device combination products and in vitro diagnostics and is a subject matter expert on European medical device regulatory and commercial strategy. Former clients include Edwards Lifesciences, Fitbit, Google Deepmind, Babylon, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Amgen, Ascensia, Smith & Nephew, Medtronic
Alex studied medicine at the Royal Free Hospital in London and further trained in cardiothoracic and major trauma surgery. He was a cardiothoracic surgeon in the UK and clinical lead for chest trauma, responsible for developing and running the chest trauma service at one of London's major trauma centers, where he also held the role as senior lecturer in surgical technology.
